Gate plans to offer a crypto-linked Visa card in 40+ markets, converting digital assets into fiat at checkout for everyday spending.
Gate has entered a partnership with Visa to bring out a card linked to crypto, widening the role of digital assets in daily purchases and commerce across borders. The card is slated to launch in 40+ markets globally, letting users pay with crypto online and in stores wherever Visa is accepted, while connecting their Gate accounts more directly to real-world spending.
When the crypto-linked Visa card is used, the relevant crypto assets held in the user’s Gate account are converted into fiat automatically at the point of sale, so the balance can be used for shopping, dining, travel and other expenses. Cardholders can apply for and administer the card in the Gate app, keeping related payment services inside the same familiar environment. The product page sets out the supported markets, eligibility criteria, accepted assets and service availability.
Visa’s acceptance network extends to more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories. With this deal, Gate is linking its digital asset services to Visa’s payments infrastructure, so cryptocurrency can be used in a wider set of commercial settings and in more everyday transactions. Over 160 stablecoin-linked Visa card programmes are now live worldwide, and their payment volume has climbed nearly 200% year over year, pointing to rapid growth in crypto card uptake.
The alliance builds on Gate’s existing global reach and multi-asset capabilities. Founded in 2013, Gate serves more than 61 million users, offers trading in 5,300+ crypto assets and 12,800+ stock assets, and gives access to TradFi products covering metals, stocks, indices, forex and commodities. Gate also adopted 100% Proof of Reserves ahead of many platforms and has created a varied product and ecosystem portfolio. That base of users, range of products and platform strengths support Gate’s push to bring digital assets into everyday payments.
Gate has officially launched Gate Money, a financial services app that operates globally. Gate Money combines digital assets, fiat currencies, stocks, ETFs, gold, bank accounts and payments in the Gate app. Eligible users can also apply online for a global bank account in their own name, managing incoming funds, transfers, asset conversions and payments from a single place. The crypto-linked Visa card also links account holdings to global payment situations, carrying Gate Money’s services into daily spending and giving users more control over their assets. Currently, Gate Money can be enabled by updating the Gate App to v8.39.0.
Gate’s founder and CEO, Dr. Han, said: “Digital assets are gradually becoming part of everyday financial life. This partnership with Visa connects the digital asset accounts Gate users already know with a broad range of commercial scenarios, making digital asset payments more intuitive and better aligned with everyday needs. As the service launches across more than 40 countries and territories, we aim to give users greater flexibility in how they use their assets and further expand the practical use of digital assets in global commerce.”
Nischint Sanghavi, head of digital currencies, APAC, said: “Consumers want payment methods that are flexible, convenient, and widely accepted. Visa is committed to working with partners to expand payment choices and connect new forms of value to established digital payments infrastructure. Through our partnership with Gate, we look forward to enabling more users to use digital assets wherever Visa is accepted, further enriching their everyday payment experience.”
Over recent years, digital assets have pushed further into practical uses such as payments, consumption and cross-border commerce. By connecting digital asset accounts to Visa’s payment network, crypto cards provide a more straightforward way to use crypto and act as a major bridge into everyday economic activity.
Founded by Dr. Han in 2013, Gate ranks among the world’s leading cryptocurrency and integrated financial services platforms, with its offerings covering asset management, trading and payments across both financial and everyday use cases. It serves over 61 million users globally, supports trading in 5,300+ digital assets and 12,800+ stock assets, and offers a broad set of TradFi assets, including metals, stocks, indices, forex and commodities, meeting users’ end-to-end needs across asset holding, trading and spending. An industry benchmark, Gate numbered among the first platforms to adopt 100% Proof of Reserves. Its ecosystem includes Gate Money, Gate Wallet, Gate Ventures, Gate for AI Agent and a wide array of products and services.
