Japan's crypto overhaul and the widening gap with the US: what to watch

Journalist claims Trump's AI-to-SI rename allowed insiders to profit from .si domain sales before announcement.
An executive order from US President Donald Trump renaming Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Super Intelligence (SI) was likely exploited by insiders to rake in “hundreds of millions of dollars” by selling SI domain names ahead of time.
Independent journalist Adam Cochran made this claim after spotting a surge in ".si" domain registrations during June and July, leading up to Trump's SI rebrand announcement on September 19.
Domains related to AI and MAGA were purchased for tens of thousands of dollars and then put up for sale at millions. For instance, the re-listed domain Build.si is priced at more than $14 million.
According to Cochran, 12,000 such domains were registered before the announcement, and prior to July, “95% of all .si domains had been non-English.”

Trump’s “Super Intelligence” Scandal:
I believe Trump’s “SI” Executive Order was ANOTHER criminal plot to enrich the Trump family.

Cochran thinks the executive order from yesterday will push federal agencies and AI tech firms to snap up .si domains to please Trump.
He further alleges that a group of insiders tied to the Trump administration likely leveraged their advance knowledge of the order to acquire domains.
Unlike domain squatters who “purchase bulk domain names of common words,” Cochran says the insiders are buying “overpriced aftermarket domains which started to sell around the same time.”
In the executive order, it is stated that AI is an outdated term, coined when it couldn't foresee AI's capacity to “amplify human ingenuity and unlock new forms of creativity.”
Trump believes SI is a more appropriate term to adopt as technology advances.
Shortly before, Trump met with Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, X’s Elon Musk, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and Google’s Sundar Pichai for an AI summit.
The tech leaders signed a “morally binding” accord on AI safety, which included a spelling mistake under Trump's signature.

Notably, after the executive order, the US government will stop recognizing AI, so it's likely OpenAI and XAI will consider their own rebrands.
