MEXC and Payward execs at TOKEN2049 discussed crypto and TradFi merging, emphasizing collaboration and 24/7 trading.
At a TOKEN2049 Singapore panel, MEXC and Payward — the parent of Kraken — offered their outlook on the convergence of cryptocurrency and traditional finance.
Vugar Usi Zade, chief executive of MEXC, and Arjun Sethi, co-CEO of Payward, talked about how wider market access, retail demand and platform collaboration might influence the future of worldwide trading.
A key topic was the move towards more interconnected, round-the-clock markets. According to Vugar, blockchain technology is upending conventional market frameworks that rely on set trading hours, as users increasingly demand smoother access to various asset classes.
“Over the next five years, we’ll see a convergence toward a singular platform where asset classes and investments can move quickly and smoothly,” Vugar said. “Retail will be the main driver.”
Arjun pointed to the infrastructure difficulty underlying this change, observing that round-the-clock trading essentially concerns moving assets and collateral into a more integrated financial system.
“24/7 trading really means: how do you bring all that collateral into one place?” Arjun said.
The two executives also emphasized that cooperation is vital for expanding the next wave of worldwide trading systems.
Arjun observed that catering to a far broader international user base will necessitate platforms collaborating with partners that offer distinct advantages in their own markets, specifically naming MEXC as an instance.
“The only way to do that is to partner with folks, including MEXC, to be able to help succeed in their core markets,” Arjun said.
Vugar likewise stressed that trading platforms can increasingly leverage each other's advantages instead of tackling every chance solely via rivalry. MEXC offers a retail-oriented strategy, substantial liquidity and extensive know-how in perpetual markets for both crypto and TradFi assets, whereas Payward contributes global financial systems, professional trading tools and robust market expertise in the U.S.
The conversation extended from the firms' prior signal that they are investigating wider cooperation, with both leaders identifying infrastructure, market access and distribution as domains where increased platform interconnection could generate value.
Trust and accessibility were also pointed out as key bases for this development. Vugar characterized trust and access as two crucial components in constructing tomorrow's financial systems, while Arjun underscored the significance of transparency as the sector grows more linked.
The discussion pointed toward a future where digital assets and traditional finance grow progressively intertwined, with platform cooperation aiding in combining market access, infrastructure and user coverage to meet the needs of a wider international audience.
