Slovenia Domain Surge Follows Trump's 'Super Intelligence' Order

A surge in Slovenia's .si domain registrations sparked allegations of insider trading tied to Trump's AI rebrand, though no evidence links him.

The US government's switch from "AI" to "Super Intelligence", ordered by Donald Trump, could be more than just a naming choice.

The sudden spike in Slovenia's .si domain registrations sparked allegations of an insider move that could line the Trump family's pockets.

On September 24, Slovenia signed an AI partnership with the US. The country owns the .si domain registry and is Melania Trump's birthplace.

The BBC reported that .si domain registrations surged dramatically, from under 2,000 in August to approximately 44,000 in September.

Did Trump insiders snap up valuable .si domains ahead of the rebrand? There is no public proof they did.

Who Acquired .si Domains Prior to Trump Coining 'Super Intelligence'?

Adam Cochran, an investor and policy consultant, asserts that the activity started well before. He states that registrations began climbing in June, and AI-related .si names started trading at steep prices.

“AI-related .si names started going for tens of thousands of dollars,” Cochran wrote.

According to Cochran, roughly 12,000 AI- or MAGA-themed domains were either registered or traded prior to Trump's rebrand push.

Trump first proposed "Super Intelligence" on Truth Social on September 19, then employed the term at the United Nations on September 22.

On September 29, Trump signed an executive order mandating that federal agencies adopt "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "AI".

Cochran claims that individuals in Trump's close circle reaped financial gains from the change. Economist Roman Sheremeta described the situation as a suspected "enrichment ploy".

The Allegation Remains Without Identified Parties

There are no public documents that identify the buyers or tie them to Trump, his relatives or his inner circle.

Netcraft proposed a more straightforward reason: speculation. A .si domain costs around $11 per year, whereas a minimum two-year .ai registration is about $180.

Over half of the .si domains that Netcraft identified on Dynadot from Trump's September 19 post to his UN speech were later put up for resale.

Slovenia's agreement with the US spans AI, semiconductors, critical minerals, and secure supply chains, with no reference to domains.

The domain surge is a fact, but the purported Trump link has not been proven.

Cochran has called on a future Congress to probe the buyers of the domains before the price spike.
