Zcash keeps gaining as US–Iran deal hopes rise; FOMC decision looms
Zcash extended its rally as hopes of a US–Iran deal boosted sentiment; markets now await the FOMC decision, US data and key ZEC technical levels.
Bitcoin rose 1.54% to $80,837 as spot outflows and Binance futures shorts diverged before Fed rate decision.
Bitcoin (BTC) increased 1.54% in the last 24 hours to $80,837, as reported by BeInCrypto Markets. The wider digital-asset market advanced along with a rally in tech shares ahead of the Fed's Wednesday rate decision.
But spot and derivatives data indicate traders are gearing up for the decision via distinct strategies. Spot holders are transferring coins off platforms, while Binance futures participants show a mild preference for short positions.
Major altcoins also increased in the same timeframe. Ether (ETH) moved up 1.79% to $2,350.85, XRP (XRP) gained 2.44% to $1.33, and Solana (SOL) added 1.69%.
The advance followed a 1.18% increase in the Nasdaq Composite on Tuesday. Semiconductor companies drove the growth, led by a 5% rise in Advanced Micro Devices.
Markets anticipate the Fed maintaining rates at 2 p.m. ET, though Morgan Stanley expects more signals of rate increases, BeInCrypto reported. Alphabet and Microsoft will report earnings after the market close, and Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) and GDP data are due on Thursday.
This busy schedule has spot and futures traders adopting different stances. Holders removed a net 14,942 BTC from exchanges, the biggest one-day outflow in five weeks, per Santiment.
Coins kept off exchanges cannot be sold immediately, reducing the supply for quick sales. Santiment viewed this as a less defensive posture than the broader macro risk would suggest. However, such outflows could also be due to exchanges moving coins between internal wallets.
Futures traders on Binance, by contrast, are cautious. Short volume is roughly $4.11 billion versus $3.91 billion in longs, giving a long/short ratio close to 0.95 according to Arab Chain. Open interest (OI) stands at about $9.15 billion.
“This means that the volume of short positions slightly exceeds that of long positions, signaling a limited bearish bias in the Bitcoin futures market on Binance,” the analyst wrote.
As supply on exchanges shrinks and futures participants tilt short, Santiment's price thresholds indicate where each group could be mistaken.
Santiment cited $80,000 as the first level to hold. If that level remains while exchange supply declines, a bounce to $82,500 to $84,000 becomes more plausible. A sharp fall below approximately $79,000 would undermine this scenario.
A dovish Fed might also compel short sellers to cover their positions, boosting any recovery. Conversely, a hawkish Fed or disappointing Big Tech earnings could drag down both tech stocks and cryptocurrencies.
CryptoQuant said that a rise in OI during a price decline could indicate new short positions and greater volatility. Increasing OI alongside price gains, however, would suggest new capital entering the market.
