Alphabet Q3: Cloud more than doubles but Search and YouTube ads fall short
Alphabet's Q3: Cloud revenue surges 103% beating estimates, but Search and YouTube ads miss forecasts; EPS falls on investment losses.
MicroStrategy's shareholders approved daily dividends on four preferred stocks, potentially aiding Bitcoin purchases after a week of no buys.
The daily dividend payments have been approved by Michael Saylor's company MicroStrategy (now called Strategy) for its four preferred stocks, which could reopen a key funding avenue for Bitcoin acquisitions following a week in which none were made.
On Wednesday, October 28, shareholders approved the change, with 99.3% of votes cast in support, based on an SEC filing and statements from Saylor.
Put simply, holders of Strategy's preferred shares will get smaller but more regular payments rather than waiting for weeks or months. The annual dividend rates stay the same.
The firm's main Stretch (STRC) stock, which gives a 12% annual dividend, will shift on November 1. Three additional preferred stocks will follow in January, pending final implementation.
$MSTR shareholders have approved the Daily Dividends amendment. Preliminary results show 99.3% of votes cast were in favor. The amendment enables $STRF, $STRC, $STRK and $STRD to accrue dividends every calendar day. Thank you to all who voted. https://t.co/w1Cp4GKUy5

That is the key issue.
Between October 19 and 25, Strategy did not buy any Bitcoin. Rather, it used $204.9 million to buy back STRC shares.
Strategy currently possesses 848,517 BTC, though its preferred-share funding approach has come under strain.
STRC's target price is $100 per share. The nearer it trades to that level, the simpler it is for MicroStrategy to raise additional capital by issuing further shares.
By offering daily dividends, Strategy might draw in buyers and help steady STRC's price. According to the company, the change is intended to boost liquidity.
Whether another Bitcoin purchase occurs this week is still unclear. The vote did not generate any cash on the spot, and as of October 25 Strategy only had $242.4 million in unrestricted operating cash.
For holders of common stock, any advantage would be indirect.
If demand for preferred shares rises, Strategy could have more funds to purchase Bitcoin, aiding its accumulation strategy and possibly boosting MSTR's valuation.
However, issuing preferred shares brings extra dividend commitments. Investors also need to weigh Bitcoin's price and the company's financing expenses.
Strategy still has notable buying power, but its recent acquisitions have been relatively modest.
In the week prior to its halt, it purchased only 267 BTC, valued at $22.1 million. Bitcoin currently has tens of billions of dollars in daily trading volume.
Research from Coinbase Institutional indicates that ETFs have surpassed corporate treasuries as the primary purchasers of Bitcoin since August.
Strategy's purchases still impact long-term supply. However, for the broader market, demand from ETFs and macroeconomic factors are becoming more significant.
