EU Sets January 2027 Deadline for Crypto Firms to Remove Unapproved Stablecoins

President Trump will announce drug pricing agreements involving Bayer, Takeda, CSL, offering MFN pricing on Medicaid drugs in exchange for tariff relief.
Today, President Trump is expected to unveil a fresh batch of voluntary drug-pricing arrangements that include Bayer, Takeda, CSL and a number of mid-sized biotech firms.
As part of these deals, drugmakers taking part would offer “most-favored-nation” (MFN) pricing on outpatient medicines bought via state Medicaid programmes. Prices would be linked more directly to the reduced rates seen in other developed nations such as Canada, Germany, France, Japan and the UK.
Certain firms may also provide chosen drugs directly to patients who pay in cash via TrumpRx, cutting out insurers and pharmacy-benefit managers. In return, manufacturers involved could get protection from pharmaceutical tariffs and possibly further regulatory advantages.
The Trump administration has previously signed comparable pacts with 17 major pharmaceutical companies, among them Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Merck, Amgen, Johnson & Johnson, Novo Nordisk and AstraZeneca. The wider programme is estimated to cut spending by federal and state Medicaid programmes by roughly $64.3 billion over a decade.
But the near-term advantages seem focused on Medicaid programmes and individuals purchasing specific medications with cash. This announcement does not automatically mean that Medicare beneficiaries or those with private insurance will see lower costs right away.
For pharmaceutical firms, the short-term effect on earnings is expected to be containable since Medicaid covers just a portion of the US market and companies already provide rebates to Medicaid patients. Nonetheless, tariff relief partially counterbalances the reduced pricing (tariffs do drive up costs). The bigger earnings threat would arise if MFN pricing subsequently extended to Medicare and private insurance.
