Lighter jumped 12.85% in 24 hours and 23.49% on the week after a Delphi report and plans for a CFTC application.
The Lighter token (LIT) rallied 12.85% in the last day, more than any other asset among the 100 biggest cryptocurrencies. The move widened its weekly increase to 23.49%, putting the price at $3.83.
Across the wider market, the same stretch brought a decline of more than 2%, with no large-cap token in positive territory. A pair of catalysts spread across two days — one from a research firm, the other from Lighter — account for the move.
On October 20, Delphi Digital released a paper making the case that speculation defines this decade. The firm advises holding the venues that earn from trading via fees or user reach, not the assets changing hands.
Within the report, Lighter sits alongside Robinhood and Hyperliquid (HYPE). Delphi pointed to Lighter's zero-fee structure for retail users and its distribution through Robinhood Wallet. Since July, that wallet has carried Lighter perpetual futures in certain non-US markets.
Robinhood took part in Lighter's November 2025 funding round as well.
“Lighter is the clearest second bet,” the report read.
Using DefiLlama data cited in the report, Lighter processed close to $56 billion of 30-day volume in early October. Hyperliquid was the leader at about $203 billion, with Variational and Aster sitting between those totals.
Lighter then supplied its own regulatory catalyst. Vladimir Novakovski, Lighter's founder, said Lighter will submit an application to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in November.
It is really important to understand that @Lighter_xyz has been working with cftc directly to shape DeFi perps rules for the last couple of months.
The goodwill generated with regulators being a collaborative US entity partner is far more useful than being "loud" in public. https://t.co/E79HQLXlhE

This week, traders factored in the licensing plan and Delphi's backing, pushing LIT up by double digits. Even so, the token is still trading below half of the peak it reached in December.
The record for LIT stands at $7.86, reached on December 30, 2025, the day its airdrop went live. Sitting at $3.83, the token would need a rise of roughly 105% to return to that mark.
In the months ahead, two events on Lighter's calendar may determine how much of that distance the token covers.
The CFTC filing is up first, with new supply to follow. According to tokenomics data, team and investor allocations — half of all LIT — start vesting in late January 2027. Around 13.5 million tokens are included in the first monthly release.
Whether those discussions turn into a formal application ahead of the new supply should become clear with the November filing.
