Tesla-SpaceX merger could be passive flows hack, bringing more Bitcoin to S&P 500

BloFin Research advises reducing AI stock exposure, shifting to Treasuries for up to 5% yield, and considering Bitcoin as a growth play for 2027.
If the AI bubble bursts in 2027, triggering a stock market crash, how should investors respond? What steps can be taken to stay secure while still keeping the door open for profitable trades?
Alan Greenspan, the well-known Federal Reserve chair who led the central bank under four US presidents, cautioned about "irrational exuberance" back in 1996. Following that warning, the Nasdaq nearly quadrupled before a 78% collapse after its peak in 2000. Those who sold too soon missed out on years of gains.
A comparable challenge currently confronts investors who are riding the AI wave.
Spending on infrastructure at record levels, increasing borrowing costs, and questions about profitability are stoking fears of a bubble. Ray Dalio recently cautioned that AI expansion funded by debt may be nearing a breaking point.
The warning indicators are already here. AI infrastructure firm CoreWeave saw its bond yields climb toward 15% as investors grew concerned about its debt load.
Yet Nvidia and major tech companies are still producing substantial cash flows. AI demand continues to grow, although the timing of returns remains unclear.
In its most recent analysis, BloFin Research contends that investors should get ready for a possible correction while staying exposed to future gains.
Here are three approaches it suggests for 2027.
I'm often asked what to pay attention to there are two big things:
— Ray Dalio (@RayDalio) October 21, 2026
First, pay attention to the bond market and the cost of money, because that is the backbone to everything. Keep an eye on the Treasury yield and the spreads in relationship to that.
Second, pay attention to the… pic.twitter.com/GRjKs9I5qD
Many investors who hold the S&P 500 might have more AI exposure than they realize.
Nvidia makes up nearly 8% of the popular SPY fund, while its ten largest holdings account for roughly 39% of the portfolio.
BloFin Research team suggests moving some exposure toward equal-weight funds like the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP).
Unlike SPY, RSP assigns each S&P 500 company about 0.2% weight at quarterly rebalancing. Consequently, its ten largest holdings represent roughly 2% right after rebalancing.
Investors can maintain AI exposure while lowering reliance on a handful of tech giants. However, equal-weight funds are still susceptible to broader market downturns.
High Treasury yields provide another option.
As of October 20, three-month US Treasury yields were around 4.3%, two-year yields near 4.8%, and ten-year yields above 5.1%.
BloFin Research argues that investors with large AI gains can sell to lock in some profits and earn interest while they wait for better opportunities.
Inflation-protected Treasuries also offered real yields approaching 3%. Longer-term bonds, however, face larger price declines if interest rates continue to rise.
This method reduces reliance on perfect timing for an AI market peak.
BloFin Research team's third strategy focuses on an asset it believes investors have neglected: Bitcoin.
Bitcoin dropped more than 53% from its October 2025 high above $126,000 to below $59,000 in June 2026. It has since recovered to around $82,000 currently.
Despite that decline, Bitcoin ETF holdings have stayed broadly stable in BTC terms.
The research suggests that capital has favored AI stocks over crypto for two years, leaving Bitcoin comparatively underowned.
"We think a new Bitcoin cycle is beginning from this underowned base," the BloFin Research team said.
It predicts further growth in 2027 as stablecoins, tokenized assets, and AI agents drive crypto adoption.
Still, Bitcoin offers no guaranteed protection from an AI-led market crash.
Traders should also avoid shorting AI stocks as a hedge. BloFin Research team's main recommendation is to stay invested while reducing concentration risk and preparing for volatility.
