Middelkoop says central banks avoid Bitcoin even as they buy gold; he targets $1M Bitcoin by 2030.
Central banks are buying gold at an unprecedented pace, yet Bitcoin is something they avoid. Willem Middelkoop, who founded the Commodity Discovery Fund and wrote The Big Reset, says the reason is that central banks prefer holdings they can control. Bitcoinâs price, supply, and market remain beyond their reach. He says institutional investors, his own fund among them, have used ETFs to gain Bitcoin exposure.
The interview begins with oil prices, Iran and the Gulf and then turns to the debasement trade, which brings together Bitcoin, gold and the commodity bull market. Middelkoop addresses The Big Reset and whether the dollar system is in its last inning, as well as BRICS, de-dollarization and weaker demand for U.S. Treasuries. He also discusses central banksâ gold buying and Chinaâs accumulation, a 25% portfolio model spanning real estate, gold, equities and Bitcoin, and the reason central banks wonât hold Bitcoin they cannot control. The conversation moves on to Bitcoin versus gold, whether Bitcoinâs correction is finished, Bitcoin Amsterdam and the âMad Maxâ Bitcoin scenario, and Middelkoopâs $1 million Bitcoin target for 2030.
