XRP rally stalls at $1.32 hurdle after bounce from $1.20

XRP rose 2% from $1.20 support but faces resistance near $1.32 that could halt its recovery.

Key takeaways

  • XRP rose 2% in the last 24 hours as it bounced from the $1.20 support zone.
  • The XRP Ledger's proposed Single Asset Vault (XLS-65) and Lending Protocol (XLS-66) have drawn validator support levels of 60% and 54%, respectively.
  • A break above $1.32 is needed for XRP to solidify its bullish case and possibly aim for $1.40.

XRP staged a sharp bounce, adding 2% in the past day as buyers returned after last week's wider crypto sell-off.

The upturn lifted XRP back above the key $1.26 mark, which briefly gave way after the $6.3 billion breach at Binance sparked a wave of selling.

Market activity also picked up, with daily volume climbing nearly 30% to roughly $1.8 billion.

Yet the bounce has not yet produced a major wave of short squeezes, indicating XRP has not breached the resistance levels necessary to confirm a lasting bullish shift.

XRP bounces from $1.20 after Binance breach

XRP's latest upturn follows a rough stretch for crypto markets as a whole. The token fell toward $1.20 after the Binance incident, touching a price zone last seen on August 20.

The event raised fears about the safety of crypto exchanges and led to large withdrawals from Binance as investors re-evaluated their positions.

As confidence slowly returned, XRP rose above $1.26, retaking a level that had acted as support during the earlier decline.

The bounce was accompanied by rising trading volumes. Daily activity reached around $1.8 billion, representing over 2% of XRP's circulating market value.

Wider economic factors could also be helping XRP's recovery. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell below $100 a barrel for the first time since October 15, even as geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran continue.

Lower energy prices can reduce inflation concerns by cutting energy-linked costs throughout the economy.

If the drop continues, it could also affect expectations for the Federal Reserve's December rate meeting.

A stronger inflation outlook could ease pressure on policymakers to increase borrowing costs, potentially lifting sentiment toward riskier assets like cryptocurrencies.

XRP Ledger lending plans gain validator backing

Beyond the broader market recovery, developments on the XRP Ledger could offer extra support for XRP's medium-term prospects.

Two proposed amendments aimed at adding native lending features are gathering increasing support from network validators.

The first, XLS-65, would create Single Asset Vaults, a tool meant to support lending-related functions on the XRP Ledger.

Data from XRPScan shows the proposal has roughly 60% validator approval. That is 20 percentage points short of the 80% needed for activation, although meeting that threshold also requires fulfilling the network's applicable activation conditions.

The second proposal, XLS-66, targets the Lending Protocol itself. It currently has about 54% validator support, placing it further from the required approval level.

The two proposals are closely linked because the planned lending functions would rely on the infrastructure supplied by Single Asset Vaults.

If XLS-65 gains enough backing, validators may be more likely to approve XLS-66, though neither result is certain.

Together, the proposals could broaden the XRP Ledger's decentralized finance capabilities by introducing new lending use cases.

XRP retakes $1.27 as RSI shows bullish momentum

XRP's four-hour chart indicates improving short-term momentum after its bounce from the $1.20 area.

The token has retaken $1.27, a level that previously served as support before the Binance-linked sell-off drove prices lower.

Regaining this area is a positive sign because it suggests buyers are trying to rebuild the market's short-term bullish structure.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on the four-hour chart is currently near 64. An RSI above 50 typically signals strengthening bullish momentum, while a move above 70 can indicate an asset is becoming overbought.

Although trading volumes have risen, XRP still requires stronger participation to break through resistance levels that have drawn sellers in the past.

The next major hurdle for XRP buyers is the $1.32 resistance. A clear breakout above that zone would bolster the short-term bullish case and suggest the recent bounce is turning into a more lasting recovery.

If buying pressure continues, XRP could push higher toward $1.40. But the $1.32 level may attract renewed selling from traders looking to exit after the recent decline.

A rejection at that resistance could lead to another drop toward $1.26. If that level fails, the next key support is around $1.20, where buyers stepped in after the Binance-linked sell-off.

Below $1.20, traders will watch potential demand zones near $1.14 and $1.08. Those levels correspond to fair value gaps (FVGs) identified on the four-hour chart.
