Investor Who Foresaw AI Boom Predicts Bitcoin Crash to $57,000
Veteran investor Jason Calacanis predicts Bitcoin will fall to $57,000 within 12 months, saying it will never reach a new all-time high.
Altcoin spot volume has dropped to its 2022 median, while Bitcoin dominance holds near a critical range that could determine the next shift.
Altcoin activity has returned to typical levels. Total spot volume is currently about 3 times that of Bitcoin (BTC), down from nearly 4 times in late September.
Speculative fervor has diminished, but the market has not decisively favored either Bitcoin or altcoins. This leaves holders of Ethereum (ETH) and other altcoins without a definitive indication. Bitcoin dominance stood at 60.49% on October 27, positioned between the thresholds an analyst links to Bitcoin outperformance and altcoin rotation.
Glassnode's lead analyst, AntiFragile, tracks total spot volume against Bitcoin's own spot volume over a 7-day period. A higher ratio signals greater altcoin trading activity relative to Bitcoin.
In late September, the ratio approached 4, coinciding with Blockchaincenter's Altcoin Season Index rising to roughly 63. Since then, the ratio has fallen to approximately 3, which stands as its median value since 2022.
Altcoin speculation has slowed down

Total spot volume is back to about 3x bitcoin:native's, its median since 2022. In late September it was running near 4x.
For buyers looking at altcoins, this is a better entry than it was when the market was overheated a month ago.
A median ratio indicates normal trading activity. Market breadth also deteriorated. As of October 18, 48.4% of altcoins listed on Binance were trading below their 200-day average, a sharp increase from less than 10% earlier in the month.
Whether the quieter market attracts new altcoin purchases hinges on Bitcoin dominance. This metric measures Bitcoin's proportion of the entire crypto market capitalization.
On October 27, dominance stood at 60.49%, following a peak of 60.91% on October 18. That October high was the strongest level observed since mid-May.
The previous decline from this area benefited altcoins. Dominance dropped to approximately 58% from mid-May to early June. During that same period, the Altcoin Season Index climbed from roughly 25 to about 50.
Analyst Ash Crypto describes the situation with two key thresholds. A move above 61.5% would sustain Bitcoin's leadership and keep altcoins under pressure, he said. Conversely, a decline below 58% would trigger a rotation into Ethereum (ETH) and altcoins.
"ETH has done well these last 4 months, but that only continues if dominance starts falling from 61%," the analyst added.

A potential triangle is still unfolding, with wave (c) now approaching the yellow trendline.
Altcoin holders might want to pay VERY…
Currently, the Altcoin Season Index sits at a neutral 51, halfway between the levels that indicate Bitcoin season (25) and altcoin season (75).
A potential drag on any rotation is the level of exchange reserves of ERC-20 stablecoins, which totaled $55.97 billion on October 26. That is down from nearly $78 billion in November 2025.
Traders typically use stablecoins already held on exchanges to finance crypto purchases, so a smaller reserve means less available capital for new trades.
Bitcoin dominance currently resides roughly 1 percentage point below the upper boundary and 2.5 points above the lower threshold. Movement toward either level will indicate whether the subdued altcoin market attracts fresh demand.
