Bank of Japan Liquidity Shock May Hit Bitcoin, Says UTXO's Duke Waldrop

Duke Waldrop says a yen repricing could hit Bitcoin first as macro funds sell into 24/7 liquidity. Metaplanet trades below its BTC value.

Bitcoin declined to $79,000 over the weekend. This week, both the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan are scheduled to announce their rate decisions. Duke Waldrop, Head of Asia Markets at UTXO Management, explained to Grace Remington and Sean Hagan that a yen repricing would first affect Bitcoin because macro funds holding yen-denominated liabilities become forced sellers, and Bitcoin's round‑the‑clock liquidity offers them an exit. He also detailed why Metaplanet is valued below its own Bitcoin holdings, why its potential removal from MSCI indexes on November 30 does not alter the investment thesis, and why confidence rests on the Tokyo team's execution.
