Bitcoin Recovery Test: $79,000 Resistance in Focus

Bitcoin's price recovery faces a crucial test at the $79,000 level, where a former support area may turn into resistance.

Bitcoin's recovery is gaining momentum, but the key test lies at $79,000.

A proposal brokered by Qatar and outlined by Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days if the US meets Tehran's conditions. The development offers some hope of easing energy supply disruptions, although no agreement has been reached yet.

Meanwhile, gold's sharp selloff has traders asking whether the correction is a buying opportunity or still too early. An analysis examines a conditional long position in gold futures, highlighting the need for patience and downside risk management.

In technology, Bank of America's Michael Hartnett argues for purchasing tech bonds after their relative performance against investment-grade bonds hit a 30-year low. The huge financing requirements of the AI industry are changing investment dynamics for both creditors and shareholders.

These three different market stories share a common question: is the recent development a meaningful shift or merely a temporary fluctuation?

This brings us to Bitcoin, where a recovering price is nearing a particularly interesting technical test for day traders.

Bitcoin is bouncing back after a sharp selloff. What follows?

Bitcoin is attempting to recover from its recent decline, but the short-term technical outlook remains fragile.

On October 29, Bitcoin was trading around 81,971 USDT, then fell to about 76,326 USDT on October 30, a drop of nearly 6.9%.

Since then, buyers have engineered a recovery with improving short-term price action.

On the Binance BTC/USDT spot four-hour chart, the latest finished candle closed near 78,354 USDT, just above a declining moving reference around 78,226.

The most recent candle was still building at about 78,463 USDT as of the November 2, 01:56 UTC snapshot.

This is positive for buyers, but it does not yet prove that Bitcoin has reversed its bearish structure.

This is where the chart becomes especially interesting.

Why the $79,000 Bitcoin zone deserves attention today

Bitcoin had been trading within a rising pitchfork channel, a technical pattern that uses three reference lines to describe a potential price path.

After the latest selloff, Bitcoin dropped below that channel.

Now, as the price recovers, the former lower boundary sits around 79,000 USDT with a slight downward slope.

This boundary could act as a magnet for price, at least metaphorically. But reaching it is not guaranteed.

What is far more interesting is what happens if Bitcoin does reach it.

The area also has historical significance. Bitcoin's October 24 low was near 79,221 USDT, adding another price reference in the broader 79,000 region.

Could the same channel that once supported Bitcoin's recovery now become resistance?

That is a common market pattern: former support turns into resistance after a breakdown.

If Bitcoin nears 79,000 but cannot hold above the former channel boundary, sellers could regain confidence.

A rejection followed by declining four-hour closes would support the view that the current rebound is corrective rather than the start of a lasting recovery.

For day traders, that would bring the 77,500-77,000 zone back into focus, with the October 30 low near 76,326 becoming a key downside reference if selling increases.

There is also a possibility that Bitcoin never reaches 79,000. If the recovery stalls below the channel and fresh selling produces lower four-hour closes, that failure would itself be noteworthy.

What happens if Bitcoin climbs back above $79,000?

The alternative scenario would be more encouraging for Bitcoin bulls.

Imagine Bitcoin rises above the former channel boundary, completes a four-hour candle back inside the structure, and then holds that boundary on a retest.

That would suggest the recent breakdown is losing some bearish significance.

Such an outcome could shift attention to around 79,850 USDT, then to the 80,500-80,600 USDT area.

These are zones to watch, not guaranteed upside targets.

Even a successful reclaim would not automatically signal a broader bullish reversal. Buyers still need to show the recovery can persist.

There is a key difference between briefly crossing a price level and truly reclaiming it.

A temporary move above the channel followed by an immediate decline could represent another failed recovery attempt.

A completed candle, a retest, and follow-through would offer more meaningful evidence.

Bitcoin forecast today: Focus on the reaction, not just the price

For day traders watching Bitcoin on November 2, the most interesting opportunity may be in patiently observing the upcoming test rather than trying to predict every move toward it.

The two main areas to watch are:

Around 79,000 USDT: Can Bitcoin reclaim the broken channel and stay above it, or will former support become resistance?

Around 77,500-77,000 USDT: If the rebound fails, can buyers hold this lower zone, or does attention return to the October 30 low near 76,326?

Shorter-term price action may provide early hints, but a brief crossing of a boundary should not be mistaken for a confirmed four-hour recovery.

There is also a wider trading lesson here.

Sometimes, a technical channel offers its most valuable information after the price has broken out of it.

The subsequent retest can help tell apart a market truly recovering its former structure from one where sellers are just allowing a temporary rebound.

Bitcoin's move toward 79,000 would be interesting.

Whether Bitcoin can reclaim that area and stay above it may be considerably more important.
