A record $1.61 billion left US spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds in October, marking the largest monthly outflow since their July 2024 inception.
The exodus snapped a three-month streak of inflows and came alongside a 16.1% decline in the ether price, its worst October performance since 2016, according to CryptoRank.
The October figure surpassed the prior high of $1.42 billion recorded in November 2025.
SoSoValue data indicates that every week ending in October saw withdrawals. The largest single week ended on October 9, with $542 million exiting the funds.
Prior to October, the ETFs had pulled in $3.05 billion between July and September. Net assets dropped to $13.22 billion over the month, a decline from $17.60 billion. Cumulative net inflows retreated to $12.29 billion.
Solana-focused ETFs also set a record. US spot Solana (SOL) funds saw $143.7 million leave in October, the steepest monthly outflow since their October 2025 launch. The only other net outflow month was June, which saw $786,577 withdrawn.

The index has since climbed back toward -0.13 but is still negative. ETH was trading at $2,293.80, 1.26% higher over the prior day, according to BeInCrypto Markets, and up 1.39% in November so far, per CryptoRank.
The current price puts ETH beneath a level highlighted by analysts in the previous week. More Crypto Online cited $2,295 as the threshold; a break below it would trigger a further decline.
The analyst identified support running between $2,207 and $1,725. Ether is now trading just below the $2,295 trigger.
Ted Pillows sees a reclaim of the $2,400 level as the initial significant signal of strength. More Crypto Online maintains a bearish outlook as long as ether remains under $2,522.
CryptoRank’s November numbers offer a mixed signal. The median return for the month is -1.90%, while the average sits at +4.04%.
Whether US demand bounces back following October's record withdrawals will be revealed by early November ETF flows and the Coinbase premium data.
