Six American Stocks Poised for Recovery After $2.5T Nasdaq Plunge

After a $2.5 trillion Nasdaq selloff, six US stocks are highlighted for long-term investment potential based on earnings and valuations.

On Thursday, roughly $2.5 trillion of Nasdaq market value evaporated as investors sold off AI stocks. However, certain major US corporations appear promising for those investing over the long term.

The selloff was sparked by worries over stricter AI oversight and deceleration in data-center building. The Nasdaq saw a slight uptick on Friday, yet it posted its fourth straight weekly drop.

Keith Lerner, chief investment officer at Truist Advisory Services, told Reuters: “We still think AI is the dominant theme in this bull market.”

Based on earnings, valuations, and Wall Street forecasts, six stocks are noteworthy.

Six US Stocks with Recovery Potential After the Selloff

1. NVIDIA (NVDA)

The chipmaker fell 9.3% on Thursday, but its operations are still growing quickly. Revenue doubled in the quarter to $96.2 billion, and analysts expect about 75% upside. At 15.4 times forward earnings, Nvidia appears more affordable. Yet its stock remains under its 200-day moving average. Earnings due November 17 could shape the future trajectory.

2. Vistra (VST)

The energy producer rose 10.5% on Friday, having reported a 50% jump in quarterly adjusted EBITDA. Its growing electricity operations benefit from data-center demand. Analysts foresee 63% upside, but potential limits on AI infrastructure pose a risk.

3. Amazon (AMZN)

Amazon's cloud unit expanded 39.3% in the latest quarter, and its operating margin hit a record 13.9%. The company’s diverse activities give it some protection from AI-sector volatility. Yet large infrastructure spending drove annual free cash flow into negative territory.

4. Alphabet (GOOGL)

Alphabet, Google's parent, posted 25% revenue growth, and cloud revenue more than doubled. The forward earnings multiple of 20.7 appears favorable compared to that growth. However, quarterly free cash flow was negative, due to aggressive capital expenditure.

5. Uber (UBER)

Uber presents an option away from AI-focused investments. Quarterly bookings advanced 20%, and free cash flow hit $2.5 billion. Analysts anticipate nearly 47% upside, though weaker earnings guidance is a worry.

6. Netflix (NFLX)

Netflix is trading close to its annual lows, even with 12% quarterly revenue growth and better profitability. Its forward earnings multiple of 17.7 seems comparatively cheap. However, slower advertising expansion renders its recovery less assured.

All six still hold bullish Wall Street consensus ratings. Yet the wider market is technically fragile. For investors, the key question is whether earnings increases can underpin these valuations as the AI selloff persists.
