BlackRock's Bitcoin Trust Sees $405M Outflow, but Firm Isn't Selling
BlackRock's IBIT saw $405.3M in client-driven outflows on Nov 2, not a sale by the firm itself.
Cardano trades around $0.188 after losing a key support level, with a long-to-short ratio of 0.8248 and chart levels pointing to further downside risk.
Key points
On Tuesday Cardano (ADA) was still under pressure, changing hands near $0.188, a session after it gave up a support level that mattered.
Buyers have been hard to find for the token, and technical signals that are losing strength hint the recent correction may not be finished.
Derivatives figures are mixed as well: the funding rate is back above zero, yet the long-to-short ratio shows bears still hold the upper hand.
On-chain and trading-activity gauges, meanwhile, indicate that selling pressure is persisting, which leaves ADA exposed to more losses unless buyers manage to take back important resistance levels.
Uncertainty is visible in Cardano's derivatives market, where traders are balancing the chance of a recovery against the prospect of another leg down.
Data from CoinGlass put ADA's long-to-short ratio at 0.8248 on Tuesday, close to the weakest reading in over a month.
Readings under 1 mean shorts exceed longs in the market being measured, which implies more traders are set up for a drop than for a rebound.
The latest figure points to a wary stance, all the more so because ADA is still trading beneath a number of significant technical levels.
Funding rates, though, indicate that bulls have not walked away entirely.
The funding rate moved into positive territory at 0.0097% on Tuesday.
When funding is positive, longs pay shorts in order to keep their leveraged positions open.
That shows some participants are still prepared to wager on a bounce, even with ADA's price weak more broadly.
The gap between the two measures suggests opinion is split on where Cardano goes next.
The long-to-short ratio carries a bearish slant, yet positive funding shows appetite for leveraged long exposure is still there.
Positioning split this way can feed volatility, especially if abrupt price moves push leveraged traders to shut their positions.
For the moment, though, the derivatives numbers give little sign of a decisive turn toward bullish sentiment.
Cardano's spot and futures markets are also looking weak, quite apart from derivatives positioning.
A CryptoQuant market summary records large whale orders in both markets, together with overheating signals and sell-side dominance.
Large orders imply that big players are still active, though the selling pressure that comes with them points to a careful trading backdrop.
Whale activity can sway prices considerably, particularly when liquidity is thin or volatility is elevated.
Large orders arriving together with sell-side dominance can heighten worries about additional downward pressure.
The overheating signals from CryptoQuant also point to high market activity, which could make ADA more exposed to violent price swings.
Read together, these indicators imply sellers still have the upper hand, notwithstanding the positive funding rates in derivatives.
Whale orders on their own, however, do not prove that big holders are offloading the ADA they already own; a clearer picture would need more data on exchange flows and wallet activity.
Unless buying demand picks up, conditions as they stand could make a lasting recovery hard for Cardano to achieve.
Cardano was trading near $0.187 on Tuesday, and its daily chart structure still favours sellers.
The token has dropped under a trendline that had been rising and supporting prices; that line now serves as resistance close to $0.218.
Breaking that trendline has damaged ADA's price structure, a sign buyers are finding it hard to hold levels that once underpinned the market.
Cardano also trades beneath its 100-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) of $0.215 and its 50-day EMA of $0.216.
Both averages sit well above the current price, forming a resistance band that could cap any recovery attempt.
Momentum gauges back the cautious view. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is hovering around 30, which puts ADA close to oversold territory.
That hints selling pressure may be getting stretched, but it does not mean a recovery is about to arrive.
When bearish momentum is strong, cryptocurrencies can stay near oversold levels for long stretches.
The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), meanwhile, is still modestly negative, showing sellers remain in control even as momentum shows signs of fading.
To the upside, the first big resistance for Cardano sits between $0.215 and $0.218 — a zone where the 100-day EMA at $0.215, the 50-day EMA at $0.216 and the former ascending support trendline near $0.218 all converge.
A recovery that holds above this zone would encourage buyers and could open the way to a move up to $0.236.
Further out, the 200-day EMA near $0.239 is another notable hurdle. Should bullish momentum build enough to clear these levels, ADA could push its recovery toward horizontal resistance at $0.245 and then the higher barrier at $0.299.
A move like that, however, would need a real improvement in buying demand and in market sentiment more broadly.
On the downside, the next major support level identified on the chart is $0.155.
A further slide to that area would mark a substantial extension of the correction now under way.
Buying interest could emerge at $0.155, though whether any rebound lasts would hinge on demand being strong enough to soak up the selling pressure that currently prevails.
